Andrew B. Mitchell, CFA
CEO & Chief Investment Officer

   


Prior to joining Pacificor, Mr. Mitchell was Vice President and Co-Portfolio Manager of high yield and convertible funds at ING. Previously Mr. Mitchell was Vice President and Senior High Yield Analyst at Merrill Lynch Asset Management. At Merrill Lynch Mr. Mitchell and his team managed over $6 Billion in High Yield bonds, and also earned distinction by taking 1st place in Merrill’s industry wide bankruptcy prediction competition.

From 1994 to 1998 Mr. Mitchell was Senior High Yield Analyst with Wertheim Schroder Investment Services in New York and Los Angeles. He started his career as a research analyst with Wallington Asset Management in 1992. Benefiting from a diverse career, Mr. Mitchell has experience working with mutual funds, institutional accounts, CDO’s, and high net worth investors. In addition to his investment experience, Mr. Mitchell has an operational background in the oil refining industry with Exxon and in the mining and industrial construction industries with Chevron Resources. 

Mr. Mitchell has earned the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and holds a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

N. Michael Matusewicz, Ph.D.

Senior Credit Analyst
   


Prior to joining Pacificor, Dr. Matusewicz was a Senior Research Analyst for ING Investment Management’s convertible bond fund, specializing in healthcare, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Matusewicz had responsibility for performing fundamental analysis, financial modeling, and relative valuations across all sectors. He also developed and supported investment-related systems applications for attribution analysis and fund compliance reporting.

Before joining ING Investments in early 2002, Dr. Matusewicz spent 10 years as a Senior Consultant for private and U.S. governmental organizations. Prior to 1992, Dr. Matusewicz was an Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at The George Washington University School of Medicine, and served as a Guest Researcher at the FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research.

Dr. Matusewicz graduated cum laude from the California State Polytechnic University with a B.S. in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. He earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Microbiology from University of California at Berkeley.

Alejandra Folguera, Ph.D.

Credit Analyst
   


Alejandra joined Pacificor in September 2007. She is in charge of the analysis of securities, modeling investments outcomes, and modeling of structured products (CDO, MBS). She joined Pacificor from Partnervest Advisory Services, LLC where she was in charge of the statistical analysis of asset allocation models, monitoring performance, and a variety of client-services tasks.

Dr Folguera is a CFA candidate, having passed all three levels of the CFA exams. She expects to receive her charter later this year. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois and a Certificate of Accounting from UCSB. Her doctoral research was in the area of non-linear partial differential equations. She is a member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles and the American Society of Women Accountants. Alejandra is co-founder and organizer of the CFALA Santa Barbara.

Steven C. Roth, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

   


Prior to joining Pacificor, Mr. Roth served as Corporate Controller for TrueLink, Inc., a Lehman Brothers company. While at TrueLink Mr. Roth’s primary focus was a reorganization of accounting and financial reporting procedures that resulted in significant cost savings.

Before joining TrueLink, Mr. Roth was the Accounting Manager at Fidelity National Financial. In this role he supervised over 100 separate reporting entities in the United States and its territories. Mr. Roth also adopted a key role in the merger transaction between Fidelity National and Chicago Title.

Mr. Roth obtained his CPA license while working at McGowan Guntermann. During his tenure there he focused on accounting issues for general and limited partnerships, LLPs, sub chapter C- and S- corporations, LLCs, trusts, and non-profit organizations. Mr. Roth also worked with the firm’s individual and governmental clients.

Mr. Roth graduated from the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in financial management and is a member of the California Society of CPAs.
